Abstract
This article reviews the way in which the Argentine writer Selva Almada articulates the keys to a non-mimetic plot in her most recent novel, a text in which nature stands as an entity that acts under its laws. The author frames unreality thanks to a black thickness that blinds conventional logic when it shines through the depths of a river in the underworld or when it is perceived on the surface of a mountain with a life of its own. My purpose is to elucidate the rarefied peripheral island of this novel as a supernatural threshold where the living and the dead meet.
