Notes on an Geocritical A`pproach in Latin America
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article presents the basic postulates of Bertrand Westphal’s Geocriticism approach in order to help to introduce it in the Spanish-speaking environment, where its presence is not as widespread as in other academic contexts. This approach, which aims to reconstruct the intertextual networks that form the imaginary dimension of a geographical space, invites us to consider the greatest possible number of voices: consolidated and marginal, local and foreign, ancient and recent. In doing so, it provides a plural view of the literary event. An increasingly global context demands interdisciplinary approaches which are capable of adapting to a changing reality. In the case of Latin America, Geocriticism allows us to give way to new voices with which to reconsider certain hierarchies (in economic, gender or ethnic terms) that are decisive in the representations of its spaces.
