Towards the (re)construction of the contribution of women writers to the literatures of Latin America and the Caribbean
Main Article Content
Abstract
As we know today, in the 21st century, largely thanks to the current digitization of documentary collections, a very high percentage of literature written by women from past centuries has been marginalized, forgotten or undervalued. The case of women writers from Latin America and the Caribbean is no exception. However, the bibliohemerographic materials needed to recognize and to record their contribution and well as to attempt to reconstruct their biographies are dispersed around the world and on the Internet, often in restricted access modalities. Although there have been efforts to bring them together and systematize our knowledge about them, this efforts have almost always chosen to prioritize a more or less brief period of time, a group of authors, an artistic movement, a literary genre, or a small set of countries. Mi postdoctoral research is a project that combines tools and methodologies from the digital humanities and traditional literature, in order to make visible the contribution of Latin American and Caribbean women writers born between 1435 and 1940. In this article I aim yo share some results of mi postfoctoral research.
