Abstract
Mexico is distinguished by having low reading rates; in our country, literature written by
men is read more widely than the one written by women. This inequality impacts the
publishing market, the reading experience, and literary studies, because most of the literary
conversation concentrates on male writers.
In response to this inequality, we created Indómitas: a course of Mexican female
writers, aiming to contribute to the dissemination and discussion of literature written by
Mexican female authors from different periods and social contexts, with a change of
perspective. This is a self-managed online course through the MéxicoX platform of the
Ministry of Public Education. In its first edition, it has 6,673 people registered and we are
